Derry Credit Union Seeks New Board Members

Derry Credit Union, established in 1960, is the largest Credit Union in Northern Ireland, with over 27,000 members and over 7,000 minor savers.  We are very proud of our track record, offering vital services to an increasingly diverse set of members in the city.  Our board of directors plays a key role by setting our strategic direction, managing risk, overseeing management performance, and ‘setting the tone’ to ensure we stay safe, legal and well run.

We are now keen to recruit new board members to further enhance our corporate governance, and are seeking people with real integrity who can meet the following criteria:

  1. A member, or will become a member of Derry Credit Union, which requires that you live or work within the common bond and share our ethos as a financial co-operative.
  2. Committed to attend and actively contribute to board and committee meetings.  The board is required to meet at least monthly, and currently meets twice per month
  3. Able to demonstrate knowledge and skills in at least one of the following:
    1. Financial oversight
    2. Corporate governance
    3. Strategic planning and oversight of performance
    4. Risk management
  4. Prepared to continue to learn in the role of board member, to respect the contribution of colleagues, and to challenge with positive intent in the boardroom

You will receive structured induction and ongoing training in the role.  Above all, you will receive the satisfaction of making a key contribution to this vital organisation and its members.
